About Sharon

Sharon Sparrow is a well-known performer and author in the flute world. Recently retired as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s tenured Assistant Principal Flutist after a 28-year career, she travels extensively giving seminars on her book, 6 Weeks to Finals, winner of the 2016 NFA Best New Publications Award. A graduate of The Juilliard School and Mannes College of Music, Ms. Sparrow had the privilege to study with Julius Baker, Thomas Nyfenger, and Geoffrey Gilbert. Sharon's orchestral audition training program, theAuditionAdvantage, is a highly effective online program providing non-competitive and complete training for all musicians preparing for auditions. Most recently, Sharon has been featured as a guest artist and a masterclass clinician at Carnegie Mellon University's The Consummate Flutist, the New Jersey Flute Society, Missouri State University and the CanAm Flute Symposium.
